The Lib Dem vision for protecting and greening Marylebone to create a welcoming, supportive, participatory community for all residents
Let’s Look After Marylebone
Nestled between two of the greatest urban parks, one of the last remaining villages in London, Marylebone deserves to be nurtured by its residents and City Council.
What a privilege to live here! I grew up in Marylebone, attending school at St Mary’s Bryanston Square, learning to swim at the Seymour Place Public Baths (now the Leisure Centre) and learning to read in the gorgeous old Marylebone Library (now part of LBS).
I returned to the area after raising my children. Looking through fresh eyes I could see the delicate interbalancing required between preserving our history, like our beautiful Georgian squares and terraces on the one hand and on the other hand, the modern needs of our vibrant, international, highly-talented residents.
So I was thrilled to be asked to run for City Council in the May 5th elections.
Why am I running and what are my policies?
In the following series of articles, I will explain my three-pronged strategy for Marylebone:
A Pain-free Plan for Greening Marylebone
Managing the North-side of Oxford Street
Community-building - between (i) residents, (ii) residents and City Council, and (iii) ourselves and other stakeholders such as the Royal Parks and TfL.
I hope you will read these short articles to find out more. I welcome your comments about any of these or other local issues. Please let me know what you think.
Sending you my very best wishes,
Elizabeth Botsford
